What do you think about Jacobs Field being renamed Progressive Field?
Is anyone else tired of seeing all these corporate names being used for parks? I don't think the new name is going to stick.

- Its all about money and comercializing
- Terrible.... Jacobs Field is such a good name P.S. im an Indians fan
- Is that true? Thats horrible. I hate all this corporate name BS. I'm so pissed about the new mets stadium being CitiField
- I din't know that was the case....not good...I hate all the corporate names...the old days were much better...
- The Banks are financing these ball parks so they are putting there names up. Remember Enron Field!
- I'm not a big fan of corporate naming rights, but I'd likely feel different if I was in ownership. It's tough to pass up what are generally seen as very easy revenues, and selling naming rights frees up money to be spent elsewhere.
- It is a sign of the times, it is all about money.
- As someone who was there the day Jacob's first opened, I hate it completely. The Jacob's are the ones that built it and built the team, keep the name in their honor. I am sick of corporations taking over all the fields names. Progressive Field sounds stupid, just like Quicken Loans Arena sounds stupid. What next, another corporation pays more and the name changes again to Trojan field or something? ETA- the Jake is where thousands of loyal fans set the record for most consecutive sold out games, not Progressive Field, That record will have to have parentheses so people know where they are talking about and that is sad
- I hate the corporate names too. Gone are the times when stadiums used to be named after sports heroes from that team or city. What's stupid is that you can't tell which stdium is in which city. I remember Jacobs field. I won't remember which city Progressive field is in. I have to figure out where Safeco field is or the Edward Jones Dome is. Stupid crap.
- I loved hearing it called "The Jake"! We had some great times down there in the 90's! What will we call it now? "The Prog"?????
- Don't worry if you don't like that name. It'll probably have five more names in the next ten years.
- Is that true? If so, that's a disgrace. Instead of the Tribe playing at the "Jake" their going to be playing at the "Prog." ???? That's weak. I'm so sick of these over powering corporations putting their name on everything. Your right, the name probably won't stick (look at "Pac Bell" now called "At&T Field."
- I don't like it....what are we going to call it now...the Prog....doesn't have the same ring as The Jake!.........GO TRIBE 2008!!
- $$$$$$$$ and it really doesn't matter what anyone thinks, the deal's already been signed.
- Al labouyt MOney. I grew up in the 1960s when stadiums were named for veternas and people, not sponsor ships. sorry day in america.
- its stupid, the indians are my favorite team but what are they doing? They changed the ticket prices and they are ridiculously high? The get rid of fan favorite and veteran Kenny Lofton to replace with some unproven rookie that costs them nothing. Its all about making and saving money for them, and its a shame.
- I think they're annoying but at least it's not Energy Solutions Arena! Currently home of the Utah Jazz. What a carppy name!!!!!!!
- I am not a Tribe fan but I think it is terrible to rename a ballpark named after the former owner to an auto insurance company. I hate it when team owners give in to corporations and completely ruin the name of the ballpark. It disgusts me when they do that. I mean whats next, Fenway Park becoming Liberty Mutual Park?
- It completely sucks. So what are we gonna call it now, "The Prog?" ugh. ew. ick. no! I don't care what major company owns the place, I'll still call it the Jake.
- Me personally, i don't care for the new name at all but i AM really sick of all the corporates buying out everything. but i guess "pro field" is catching but knowing me...i will always remember it as the "jake"
